Brazil has produced some incredible skateboarders over the years. Carlos De Andrade, Fabricio Santos, Bob Burnquist, Leticia Buffoni, Alex Carolino, Rodrigo TX, Luan De Oliveira, Felipe Gustavo, Thiago Lemos, Carlos Ribeiro, the list is endless. Their latest superstar is Filipe Mota who at the age of 13 is already flipping and jumping down more stairs than he has had birthdays. It is amazing how many talented young skateboarders are appearing in today's generation and their enthusiasm and fearless attitude knows no bounds.
Filipe first appeared on a segment for the Berrics in 2016 when he was 9 (yes, that is only 9 years of age ripping up the Berrics!) and he has not stopped improving and progressing since. The Berrics also just last year released a 'Where the Hell did This Kid Come From?' part which was simply mind blowing. In the five minute part, the 13 year old, (head to toe in Nike SB) casually rolls about the Berrics to himself, attacking the rails, transition and ledges, landing everything to perfection. Tre flips, kick flips, backside smiths, backside tails, kickflip backside lipslide, kickflip front boards, the kid has an incredible amount of tricks in his locker. Every trick seems effortless, almost like he learnt to skate before he could walk.
He has found himself on 'flow' for Primitive Skateboards whilst also acquiring sponsors such as Nike SB, Diamond Supply Co., Thunder, Spitfire, Bones Bearings and Mob Grip. It is incredible how good Filipe has become at such a young age. When Skateboarding in the Olympics properly takes course, I think we may be looking at a future gold medalist. This kid is going places. The future is bright for Filipe!
