The fate of any popular skate spot unfortunately usually has a sad ending. Like the fallen Skate Spots of days gone by, the majority of good skate spots these days are also being restricted and skate stopped. It is usually only a matter of time before any nice ledge, rail or terrain you see is made unskateable. Luckily if you skate in Los Angeles there is one man who is saving the day and risking potential criminal charges by removing skatestops at various spots.
Whilst he prefers to remain anonymous, Jenkem Mag this month caught up with the notorious hero of the skate community, Knob Buster. A Google search for this name may return some interesting results however it is the masked skateboarding enthusiast who has recently been getting a lot of attention and praise. The Knob Buster has been removing knobs from skatespot rails and ledges all over Los Angeles and posting his work on Instagram. Knob Buster’s profile is private for obvious reasons however his account documents each of the spots he has saved so far, allowing skateboarders to continue enjoying their favourite haunts.
Jenkem Mag hung out with the Knobbuster on one of his jobs and despite some narrow escapes from being caught by passers-by, he successfully unknobs a rail and rides off into the sunset. If you live in Los Angeles and have had your favourite spot skatestopped, you know who to call...
