The lockdown enforced worldwide due to the Coronavirus pandemic has provided opportunities and freedom for skateboarders they have never had chance to experience before. The New York Times have now documented how skaters are making the most of the empty streets in an article by Antonio de Lucas and accompanied by short videos by Sam Youkilis.
The article illustrates a wide range of skateboarder's views on how they have been taking advantage of a quiet New York City. Each skateboarder covered in the article includes a video of them skating throughout Manhattan as well quotes on how this has made them feel.
Converse CONS rider and Brooklyn resident Alexis Sablone claims "It's just kind of like, like you pressed pause, and then I'm there moving through it still. You drop a quarter in the street, like three blocks down you could probably hear it. Looking up at buildings and thinking, wow, like every single person is like in their little window, like in their boxes right now."
