We were not betting against it and now it has officially been confirmed that Mason Silva has been announced as Thrasher SOTY (Skateboarder of the Year) for 2020.
The announcement was made via Instagram today with Mason saying, "still confused what happened today.. @thrashermag Thank you to everyone who helped me out this year, couldn’t have been here without my friends ❤️ thank you @burnout @pivot_to_fakher Jake... unreal ❤️❤️ @ryanree FOTY!!" Mason’s close friend and filmer Ryan Gee was also awarded with a Filmer of the Year award, rewarding his contribution and dedication to taking countless trips and sessions with Mason.
Mason had been on a mission this year with two parts for Real Skateboards, a part for Nike SB and then finishing off the year with an epic Spitfire Wheels part. Other contenders for SOTY consisted of Elijah Berle, Alexis Ramirez, Louie Lopez and Miles Silvas. The award for the California native is thoroughly deserved and at just 24 years old we feel there is a lot more to come from Mason.
