With more and more designer and mainstream brands jumping on the skateboarding bandwagon, this week sees French sportswear brand Lacoste's turn as they announce the signing of skateboarder Torey Pudwill.
In the past few years designer brands such as Louis Vuitton have released collaboration skateboard decks with Supreme and more recently dropped their first ever skate shoe in collab with Palace Skateboards rider Lucien Clarke. It seems Lacoste are now happy to also dip their toes in the water of the Skateboarding Market and have chosen Torey as their first ambassador. Founded in 1933 by Tennis players the brand make everything from footwear, sportswear, perfume and watches and will not be short on a budget if they want to explore the skateboarding community and its tastes.
Entrepreneur Torey will no doubt be on a lucrative contract and it will be interesting to see if they release any skate influenced and inspired products. Torey claimed "I love the feeling I get every time I see the Croc. The Lacoste Crocodile had a big impact influencing my personality, lifestyle and brands I've created within skateboarding. I've been a huge fan and supporter of Lacoste for 20 years since I was 10 years old. My personal collection is full of pieces from Izod Lacoste throwbacks to collaborations, art series , limited editions and even its competition. I'm Intrigued with the brands history being a staple in fashion for close to a century and the authentic marketing aesthetic that stays true to its original roots of sports. Lacoste for life!"
