In some tragic news, skateboarding legend Keith Hufnagel has passed away aged 46. Keith had recently been admitted to hospital for a reoccurrence of some complications relating to brain cancer which he had been diagnosed with at the beginning of 2018.
Keith was a prominent figure in the Golden Era of skateboarding and had his own unique style, making even the basic tricks on a skateboard look amazing. Keith produced some epic skate video parts throughout his career such as Real Skateboards 'Non-Fiction,' 'Real to Reel' and DVS's 'Skate More.'
Keith's talent was undeniable and over time he passionately built his own skateboarding empire, involved in numerous skate projects and eventually creating the popular brand HUF we all know. He accomplished so much in his life time but he had so much still to offer as a father, husband and friend. He has been an inspiration to the skate community and beyond and his legacy will live on forever.
Keith is survived by his wife Mari Ellen and two children.
The world and skateboard community have lost a real pioneer of the art and all round great human being. Real Skateboards, which was Keith's home for so long, released the following heart warming statement.
"Words escape us, and they will never be enough. Anything written could never truly describe how much your friendship, influence, everything you did - means to so many people. You created a blueprint for how it should be done, with power, grace, and respect.
You showed us that anything could be accomplished if you put your heart and effort into it. You were a true friend, mentor, and inspiration. There will never be a day you’re not with us, in our hearts and thoughts.
Forever.
We Love You."
The Berrics also put together a tribute to Keith which you can check out below.
