Just this week Jenkemmag made very good points on their Instagram of how older skateboarders are still thriving and even getting better with age. It is a beautiful thing to still see the iconic skaters from the 90’s still killin’ it in 2020. One of those skaters is DGK’s Josh Kalis who seems as if he has not lose one iota of a step since his days of tearing up Love Park. Kalis just today dropped a DIY part displaying his everlasting talents and it is refreshing to see him still putting out footage at 44 years of age.
This year has been a good one for skateboarding and we have seen plenty of veterans of the game drop some epic footy. Alexis Sablone put out arguably her best ever part at 34 in Converse Cons ‘Seize the Seconds’ just last month. Andrew Reynolds is as good as ever and still acquiring new sponsors at 42 on getting on Vans Shoes. Anthony Van Engelen (42) showed us he’s still not slowing down in Fucking Awesome’s ‘Dancing on Thin Ice’ video and recently Brandon Turned showed how motivated he still is at 39 to Switch Hardflip Wallenburg. We also had Tony Hawk at 52, skating Elliot Sloans mega ramp in the Birdhouse ‘Skate and Create’ segment for Red Bull Skateboarding and it was as inspiring as they come.
So I guess skateboarding is something which you can get better with age and all of the above have proven this. Kalis for sure isn’t going anywhere for a while. Check the clip below.
