This week, Free Skate Mag released an epic edit of British Skateboarding legend Danny Wainwright to celebrate 20 years on Vans Shoes.
20 years is incredible loyalty on both parts and Danny has undoubtedly played a huge part in the evolution of British Skateboarding. The 45-year-old has been a team manager at Vans for the majority of his skateboarding career and Danny is also co-founder of Bristol skateshop 'Fifty Fifty.'
A large part of the skate community may remember Danny from winning the 'Reese Forbes Ollie Challenge' in the year 2000 and he has also had parts in iconic videos such as Powell's 'Magic,’ Vans 'Pleased to Meet You' and an old favourite of ours,'Playing Fields.’ Danny has also been featured in multiple skateboard magazines, promos and adverts and often appeared in US skateboarding video magazine 411VM.
To celebrate Danny's 20 years at Vans, they have now released the Danny Wainwright X Vans 20 Year Chukka boot which will be available in skate shops this Friday 26th June. Danny posted on his Instagram that he was "super stoked" to have these released and that the Chukka boot was a favourite of his growing up skating.
Danny was renowned for his laidback style, insane pop and skating spots which many would deem un-skateable. The word legend can sometimes be brandied about all too often in the skateboarding industry, however when the topic of conversation is British Skateboarding his contribution has been nothing other than legendary.
Thank you for everything you have done for skateboarding Danny!
