After a failed attempt to relaunch the iconic skateboarding footwear brand Axion back in 2010, it appears they are now once again attempting to bring the brand back to life.
With the original trademark for Axion expiring, Kareem Campbell's former company was essentially taken on by some random skateboarding sneaker aficionados who acquired the trademark. They did attempt to create a team and even with the promotion of professional skateboarders such as Manny Santiago, Kevin Taylor, Javier Nunez and Rodrigo Lima, the relaunch in 2010 was a failure.
On Instagram this week Axion have now announced that they will be relaunching and releasing a limited edition vault collection which will be dropping on 15th October 2020. The posts on social media have teased that the new collection just may contain some of the original Axion classics from the golden era of skateboarding.
It is yet to be confirmed if Kareem Campbell is involved in this latest relaunch however the question must be asked, is Axion really Axion without Kareem Campbell and the team he built back in the 90's? Of what was once a shoe company with legends such as Gino Iannucci and Guy Mariano on the team, can they really bring back one of the most memorable and successful skate brands of the past or is the relaunch simply a lacklustre attempt to capitalise on nostalgia from this era?
