Big L is arguably one of the best rappers of the 90's Golden Era of Hip Hop and now Mass Appeal are releasing a mini documentary on the legendary MC.
Big L (Real name Lamont Coleman), from the 'Danger Zone' in Harlem New York, was unfortunately murdered in a drive by shooting at the age of 24 in 1999. Rumour has it, L's murder was a retaliation for something Big L's brother had done in the past involving another gang member.
Just prior to his death the hip hop artist was reportedly set to sign a deal to Roc-A-Fella Records of which Damon Dash was the CEO. Big L leaves behind a legacy full of incredible Hip Hop with some of his best work being those released posthumous.
Back in 2009 a trailer had been released for 'Street Stuck - A Big L Story' directed by Danger Zone Filmz. Hip Hop heads eagerly awaited the release however due to legal complications the documentary has never came to light.
Now Mass Appeal, the independent record label founded in 2014 by Nas, will release a short documentary 'Foul Child: The Legend of Big L.' The documentary will tell the story of Big L and will feature Hip Hop DJs Stretch and Bobbito, Wu Tang's the RZA and Dave East.
Big L was one of Hip Hops finest MC's and we look forward to this one premiering on 29th May 2020.
