Usually when legendary Hip Hop MC’s are asked their top 10 rappers of all time, all ears in the industry are listening.
On an interview via Instagram live, with Hot 97 regular Fatman Scoop, he put this very question to Black Thought.
Scoop asks him “10 people who got to be on your list?”
With little hesitation the Roots frontman rhymes off Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS-One, Big Daddy Kane, The D.O.C, Run-DMC’s Rev Run, Schoolly D, Three Time Dope’s EST and with Scoop pushing him for a final tenth choice of which he selects LL Cool J.
At 48 years of age Black Thought himself is one of the most talented MC’s ever to grace a mic and is often in the conversation when this question is put to other Hip Hop artists, so it is interesting to hear his influences..
Scoop also asks Black Thought what it was like collaborating with Rakim for the first time recently on “In The Ghetto” which was produced by J Period and featured vocals from John Legend.
